Experience is Education!

It might seem strange, given that we sell dive courses, but sometimes the best educational option is to just go diving! Yes, formal courses play an important part in improving your dive skills and not only learning new things, but learning the right things!

But at the same time, if all you do is courses then you are gaining very little unsupervised experience in the kind of diving that you want to do. It is that experience that gives you a broad base on which you can make judgements before, during or after a dive.

On the other hand, experience on it's own is not enough to become the diver you want to be. Certainly, knowledge can be gained from books and internet forums, but the practical motor skills associated with diving can easily be mis-learned. It is therefore important to get a balance between training and experience as you expand and develop as a diver.

Here at Rock Salt Scuba we intertwine experience and education in many ways to give you the best of both worlds. On all of our courses you will plan your own dives, you will make decisions on where to dive and whether a dive is feasible. Putting student divers in control of their diving on a formal training course is just one of many approaches we use to help you develop a good breadth of experience.
