Technical Solo Diver

Our Technical Solo Diver course combines the basic SDI Solo Diver course with the TDI Decompression Procedures course and addresses the issues associated with diving in a non-unified team.

Student Prerequisites

Minimum certification of SDI Advanced Diver, Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent.
Minimum age of 21.
Medical clearance to dive from a GP.

Course Duration

A minimum of 30 hours of instruction with an expectation of additional self-directed study.

Course Structure

A Technical Solo Diver course consists of three components, dive theory, confined water (pool) training and open water dives. After completing the self-study requirements, the dive theory and confined water components are typical run over a total of four evenings. Open water dives are conducted over three days where student divers will complete at least six dives. Typically, a Technical Solo Diver course is taught in conjunction with a standard Decompression Procedures with the Solo Diver skills being addressed in the final day of diving.

Equipment Required

Equipment conforming to Hogarthian principles which shall include a regulator with a 2m hose attached to the primary second stage. Twin cylinders must be used on this course. A rigid backplate and wing is preferred. A decompression gas cylinder and regulator shall be provided for use.
